This collection of short essays
is from my weekly column “Perspectives” as found on the internet at www.baytoday.ca
along with some previously unpublished work. Some of the original pieces were
shorter than I might have liked at the time because of space restrictions in the
file sizes. I have expanded some pieces and added a short introduction where I
thought it might help the reader see the piece from my perspective.
Listed under Editorials, my writings are simply ‘opinion’ pieces,
opinions based on my assessment of news stories, my observations on the antics
of our politicians, bureaucrats, media stars and life in general. Although some
of the columns were meant to be serious or were satirical in nature, many are
tongue-in-cheek comments meant to slowly release some of the air from the ego
balloons that we carry around. A few pieces are pure whimsy because we all need
to smile a little more.
While some of the political writings may seem dated, you might still find
them useful as a review of how events unfolded at the local municipal level, at
the Provincial and Federal levels of government and even with our friends in the
United States
. If you do not know our local mayor
and councilors, or our Premier or Prime Minister, simply substitute your
politician’s name, for I find politicians are all very much alike.
Finally, the reader should remember that I am a writer of fiction.
Comments attributed to my wife may or may not be true and Diana would likely
deny most of them.
